# Manage personally identifiable information (PII)

Syntho helps to ensure columns containing **personally identifiable information (PII)** are properly managed and governed. It provides fast identification and obfuscation modules for **PII** entities, such as credit card numbers, names, locations, social security numbers, phone numbers, financial data and more. While the PII scanner provides a robust starting point for identifying PII, it is not exhaustive. Users should carefully assess their data to identify other sensitive columns that may require attention.

All columns marked as **PII** are listed on the **Main hub,** and can be adjusted both from the **Main hub** and **Table view** tabs. Use the table selection menu on the left side of the panel to browse the highlighted PII entities by table.
